MULTIPURPOSE COMMUNITY CENTRES-MCC

The creation of MCC in every province of Burundi (18) is one of BEF flagship response to meet the challenges of promoting STEM subjects in Burundi, improving ICT and online courses for the youth and adult who don’t have any formal education, providing the facilities to local communities to access the internet and the library and to provide the facilities for the local community to organise conferences, meetings and family events.

1.1. The objectives of the MCC

1. To bridge the gap between skills and labour markets needs and to promote the entrepreneurship skills in order to facilitate the creation of job opportunities.

2. To offer the facility and technology to the Youth in formal education to access online courses in order to gain online Certificate/Diploma provided by International schools/Colleges/Universities or Online courses Providers.

3. To offer a modern science Labs to the youth in formal education in the local community to access high tech facility laboratory in order to increase the number of students interested in sciences and technology and to gain the necessary knowledge to obtain the Certificate/Diploma provided by International schools/Colleges/Universities.

4. To offer the facility and technology to the Youth in the informal sector and the adults who have not achieved any formal education to access online courses/webinars in order to gain Certificate/Award necessary for their professional/Entrepreneurship career.

5. To offer the facility and technology to the local community to access online knowledge and skills through the desktop facility and the Library.

6. To offer the facility and technology to the local community to access internet and meeting space for entrepreneurs or any person who wish to work online in a

friendly, relaxing environment.

7. To provide the facility and technology to the local community to access “telemedicine” and Wellbeing/Chiropractic facilities for their health benefit.

8. To provide the facility to the local community to organise conferences, meetings, family events (Funeral, weeding and other events).

9. To contribute to the preservation of the environment by launching the “partnership with the Natural Revolution” with a scheme in which users/customers will be rewarded discounted rate on accessing the MCC facilities by planting trees (an hour planting trees= 10% discount on a weekly charge BEF is actively promoting the MCC project to raise the funds necessary for the construction of the three MCC pilot scheme in Bujumbura, Gitega and Ngozi.
