We Establish Schools
Rusaga Fundamental School
Since 2014, Burundi Education Foundation (BEF) conducted thorough studies to assess the educational needs of the Rusaga community. In partnership with UNICEF, These efforts culmi- nated in the construction and official opening of Rusaga Fundamental School in 2018, which was handed over to the community and is now a public school run by the government. This ensures that all children in the area and surrounding communities can access education without fees, removing financial barriers that previously limited enrollment and contributed to high dropout rates.
Beyond providing infrastructure, BEF has continued to support the school by supplying school kits, learning materials, and other resources to meet the evolving needs of students and teachers. The school offers a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and STEM subjects, helping students develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and curiosity. These efforts contribute to higher school attendance, improved knowledge, and long-term learning outcomes.
By creating an accessible, well-resourced educational environment, Rusaga Fundamental School not only reduces the distance barrier for families but also empowers the community, strengthens the local education system, and lays the groundwork for sustainable social and economic development. It represents a model of how partnerships can provide lasting impact while ensuring education remains free and equitable.
