Since 2022, Burundi Education Foundation (BEF), in partnership with the Universit ́e du Bu- rundi, Chemistry Department, has celebrated academic excellence through the Best Student Prize. This annual award recognizes the top-performing student in the department and con- sists of a high-generation laptop, providing both recognition and a practical tool to support the recipient’s future academic and professional endeavors.

The prize honors the lifelong dedication and exceptional contributions of Prof. Katihabwa Joseph, whose teaching and mentoring have profoundly shaped the faculty’s students. By rewarding excellence, achievement, and resilience, BEF seeks to inspire students to pursue knowledge, develop their skills, and continue striving for success in their careers, while fostering a culture of academic excellence and innovation across Burundi’s higher education institutions.
